| 06/22/2006 WASHINGTON A trip to the dealer is in store for thousands of Nissan owners now that the automaker is recalling some of its Altima and Sentra models. The order affects 2006 models with two-point-five-liter engines. A Nissan spokesman says it has had 274 reports about excessive oil consumption, and word of 24 engine fires. He says one result in a "very minor injury." Nissan ordered dealers to stop selling the cars earlier this month, while it tries to figure out what's causing the problem. But Altimas and Sentras built after May 22nd remain on sale because the company says they show no signs of the problems. About 85-thousand cars in the U-S are being recalled, with another 12-thousand in other countries. ___ On the Net: Nissan North America: http://www.nissanusa.com Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
