| 10/12/2006 NASHVILLE — The 2007 Nissan Sentra gets a $1,540 price hike versus the 2006 model, as the Japanese automaker moves the compact car a step up in the lineup and slots the '07 Versa in place as its entry-level model. The '07 Sentra, powered by a 140-horsepower 2.0-liter I-4 engine and a six-speed manual transmission, starts at $15,355, including a $605 destination charge, for the base model. The Sentra is on sale now. A top-of-the-line Sentra 2.0SL with the 2.0-liter I4 and a continuously variable transmission starts at $19,005, including shipping. The base 2006 Sentra with a 126-hp 1.8-liter I4 had a starting price of $13,815, including a $615 destination charge. Options on the '07 Sentra include $300 Sirius Satellite or XM Satellite radio, a $600 alloy wheels/antilock-brakes package, a $210 rear spoiler and a $750 sunroof. Body-color side moldings add another $140 to the bottom line and a Rockford Fosgate audio package is $750. The new Sentra, which gets a boost in interior space for '07, also includes standard air-conditioning, power door locks and windows and six standard airbags. What this means to you: The Sentra grows up, as does its base price. A sure sign of confidence in a product. Edmunds.com/Inside Line |
