Nissan Sentra
| | Model of the car: | Nissan Sentra | | | General comments: | When I bought this car it had 100,000 miles on it already. It had a stuck valve on it so it burned up a quart of oil every about every 450 miles. The guy who had it before me let the timing belt go too long and it broke. On this car when the timing belt breaks it will damage the valves. The belt is easy enough to replace. I don't consider myself a mechanic but I was able to do it myself. I drove it for 40,000 miles with the stuck valve. It never left me stranded. It was the most reliable car I have ever driven. I took a trip from Florida to Michigan and back with the car completely loaded with stuff. I mean I had the back seat piled to the ceiling (couldn't see out the back window) and the trunk full. It was so full the back end was sagging. It still got 29 mpg! It didn't overheat or complain in any way. I did lose my front struts on that trip because I had overloaded the car. The car never leaked oil. The engine compartment was always clean. It wouldn't have burned oil if I had repaired the valve problem. I finally had to sell the car. It was just getting to a point where I knew it wasn't going to go on much longer with that stuck valve. Pulling the head was beyond my reach and I wasn't going to pay to have it done. I missed that car before and after it was gone though. I have never had a better more dependable car than that one. All I ever had to do was keep the oil level up, and I did the basic tune up on it when necessary. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | I could not think of single to complain about this car. Well I can say that if you don't change the timing belt at 50,000 miles you risk damaging the valves it that belt breaks. | | | Previous car: | I driven Toyotas, Hondas, Mitsubishis, and Mazdas. The Nissan is a cheaper and better car for the money. |
